The wear factors
The predominant types of wear by bulk solids are abrasion and impact wear. Corrosion may also be encountered.
The type and strength of wear depend on a variety of factors: flow speed, output rate, impact angle, service temperatures, type of bulk solids etc. In addition humidity and chemically aggressive media are frequently encountered.
For existing plants, the technical on-site conditions are also of importance.
The correlation of all these factors cannot be summed up in a mathematical formula. Many years of track record and experience, and well-founded knowledge of materials and resources, are essential in order to be able to offer a most professional wear management.
