EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WEAR PROTECTION SOLUTIONS IN DEFINED PLANT COMPONENTS FROM THE TH. SCHOLTEN GMBH & CO. KG

WEAR PROTECTION PREPARATION

Systems and their components are often subject to tremendous wear processes when conveying, depositing, and separating bulk materials. The properties and hardness of the bulk material play just as an important role as its flow rate. For this reason, individual wear protection solutions that account for the special features of the systems as well as the factors and effects of wear on the materials are the most important measures for ensuring longevity and efficiency.
With a wide product range offering highly efficient materials, the Th. Scholten GmbH & Co. KG offers wear protection solutions for every need. Which of the materials – whether individually or combined – leads to the desired result depends on the particular production process. From A (as in alumina ceramic) to Z (as in zirconia ceramic), every material will find a suitable application in terms of the most economical wear protection solution for the customer.

WEAR PROTECTION IN CYCLONES

Cyclones belong to the plant components in which the bulk material is transported at an extremely high flow rate. The extremely fast moving bulk material and its individual segments cause substantial wear in some cases. On the one hand, a corresponding wear protection solution must provide extremely robust protection, and on the other hand, it should be light in order to ensure the weights of the affected plant components are, if possible, not increased.

WEAR PROTECTION IN CLASSIFIERS

The classification process comprises various applications. According to its properties, the bulk material is separated by particle size or material in the flow of air or due to gravitational or centrifugal force. The appropriate type of wear protection needs to be defined according to the application. A more important factor that must be taken into account in classifiers for this purpose is the fact that the temperatures are very high and can change quickly. This means the materials used here for a suitable wear protection solution need to have high thermal stability, wear resistance, and hardness.

WEAR PROTECTION IN MILLS

In mills, which permanently crush, grind, and transport material, every single element is subject to high wear and abrasion, from the area where material is fed in or out, the classifiers, and the rollers and plates to the housing. Here, as well, the requirements on the materials used for wear protection are high: They need to have a high strength and hardness grade as well as resistance to temperature and corrosion.

WEAR PROTECTION IN MIXERS

The continuous process of mixing and stirring causes steady and permanent wear in all parts of a mixer. Due to the different stresses the individual plant components are exposed to, the Th. Scholten GmbH & Co. KG develops individual combinations of materials for bases, walls, and tools.
